Publishing with Evolution Letters during the coronavirus pandemic

Here at Evolution Letters, we are committed to publishing the best new evolutionary biology research in a timely fashion, and will continue to do so as best we can throughout the coronavirus pandemic. We strongly encourage the evolutionary biology community to continue submitting manuscripts and writing reviews during this time.

We know that our authors, reviewers, and editors (and indeed, people involved in the production of accepted manuscripts) will have new and diverse demands on their time over the coming months. Our publication process may therefore become slower than usual. We ask our contributors to bear with us, and we will do our best to deal with your submissions efficiently and to keep you informed throughout. The likely impact of the pandemic on everybody involved in the review and publication process has been beautifully articulated by Dan Bolnick and his team at the American Naturalist, and we share all of the views outlined in his blogpost (https://comments.amnat.org/2020/03/publishing-in-time-of-coronavirus-open.html).

Please note that we will continue to send reminders to reviewers and editors regarding recommendations and decisions on papers, and to authors regarding revision deadlines. However, if extra time is required or a task cannot be completed, please do not hesitate to let us know. We will provide extended flexibility and support to our contributors and reviewers during this time.

Thank you for your continued support of Evolution Letters – we look forward to continuing to publish your excellent work

Best wishes and stay safe,
